Peaceful Christmas in Panama

To avoid repeating mistakes of the past we need to know history, but we don’t have to live in the past, but can celebrate what Panama is today. A beautiful, growing, booming country with a sane, if at times a bit corrupt, government, warm weather, beautiful mountains and beaches, and a diverse population made up of people who’ve come from all over the planet to live, work, and traverse the “crossroads of the world.” Panama has a stable democracy, low crime, no mass shootings, no snow, and a genuinely optomistic outlook. Christmas is a time to reflect on Christ’s birth and life, a time for family, and a time for community. While consumerism is constantly edging in, it has not overtaken the celebraion of Christmas. And tonight, Christmas Eve, the sky will explode with thousands of fireworks, big displays, and indiviual Indigenous who have spluged to buy a single firework to shoot off to celebrate the birth of the Savior. Life is good!

To all of our friends around the world we wish you a blessed Christmas.
