It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

No. No snow! The blog snow is just a technological snow job for effect.  This I do NOT miss …

Since we’re only 9 degrees above the Equator, it never snows not even on 11,400 ft Volcan Baru. But not to fear, our central plaza is beautifully decorated for Christmas, complete with a manger scene … no hassles about religious decorations or calling Christmas “Christmas” here. And yes, shopping frenzy and in the stores, endless Christmas carols.

Sept 27 037Our poinsettia plants along the driveway and scattered around the farm add lots of Christmas cheer. And we decorate all our coffee plants with beautiful ripe coffee cherries. This is the peak time for our coffee harvest.

This is a special Christmas for me since I will be home for Christmas! In past years frequently I’ve been off somewhere in the world on the high seas. As we prepare for Christmas, and visits from Santa Claus and my daughter Rebecca, I thought you might enjoy seeing what our house, which by the way is for sale, looks like at Christmas.

While I love looking a pictures of a “white Christmas,” the kind of white Christmas I like is at the beach walking into 80 degree Pacific waters off Boca Chica at one of the pristine islands where we have the beach to ourselves.
