Laissez les bon temps roulez: Copa to New Orleans

“Let the good times roll!”

Panama’s airline, and one of the fastest growing and most profitable airlines in the world, Copa Airlines, has announced that new direct flights between Panama City and New Orleans will begin in June.

This increases Panama’s role as the “Hub of The Americas.”  Copa already offers direct flights to Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal.  Copa is my favorite airline: new planes, nice seats, more leg room, free onboard entertainment, free drinks, and an old-style “airline food” meal, but at least it’s something to eat. Because Copa code shares with United, you have to be careful that your flights are actually operated by Copa or you may land up in the “friendly skies” (or is it the “unfriendly skies” of United) where you’ll be nickle and dimed like all the other carriers, and get a stale sandwich for dinner.

And Copa flies from Tocumen International in Panama City to David, meaning you can now book an international trip, for example, DAV/NYC/DAV.

Copa plans to offer four weekly flights between New Orleans and Panama City starting June 26 using Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The flights would operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Now if we can just get Copa to do a direct flight from David to the US!.
